OWB PACKERS STRIVES TO CREATE THE MOST HUMANE
​ATMOSPHERE FOR PROCESSING CATTLE

The processing plant in Brawley, CA was built in 2001 by various cattle feeders of the Imperial Valley. The 337,000 square foot structure was the first beef processing facility built from the ground up in 20 years within the United States. Our plant is uniquely designed among other beef plants, implementing state-of-the-art features and recruiting the design assistance of Dr. Temple Grandin, one of the forthright thinkers on the humane treatment of animals. OWB Packers uses custom cattle pens designed for animal comfort and safety. After expansions were completed in 2006, the plant has the capacity to process upwards of 2,300 animals per day.

OWB Packers operates the plant in a unique way, training our team of employees to do both the harvest and fabrication processes. We are utilizing the extra space in this facility to create custom cuts and specifications for a diverse and growing customer base.

Our innovative approach and view of the future warranted a new approach.  At OWB Packers we are unique in that a toll-processing agreement is utilized to accommodate customers who process thirty to over a one thousand head of cattle a week.  This model has created demand from ranchers as far as Texas and Washington. OWB Packers customers have options to choose specific processing techniques based on their preference (half carcass, minimally fabricated, retail ready for export markets).

OWB Packers utilizes its partnership with One World Beef to market and sell brands produced at the facility in the United States and globally through OWB Packers export verification program.  This relationship has demonstrated to be beneficial for toll-processing customers who seek additional support or distribution partner in moving identified inventory items.
